On the evening of June 2nd, a wide-body Boeing 777-300ER operated by Emirates landed at Da Nang International Airport, bringing the first group of travelers from Dubai to explore Central Vietnam.
The aircraft and its crew were welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute. The ceremony was attended by leaders from the Da Nang People’s Committee and the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.
According to Mr. Nabil Sultan, Executive Vice President for Passenger Sales and Country Management at Emirates, the launch of this new route—connecting Dubai to Da Nang via Bangkok—marks a strategic growth step for the airline in Southeast Asia.
Central Vietnam is well-known for its rich heritage sites, especially Hue, Hoi An, and My Son, which have long attracted a high volume of international visitors.
Mr. Sultan emphasized that this new service reflects Emirates’ strategic investment in Vietnam and its role in enhancing the country’s global connectivity and tourism capacity.
At the welcome ceremony, Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, stated that this route will contribute to positioning Da Nang as a hub for international trade and travel. It also helps shorten the distance between the city and key markets such as the Middle East, Europe, North America, and Africa.
Significantly, the launch coincides with Da Nang’s implementation of special mechanisms under National Assembly Resolution 136, aiming to establish itself as an international financial center and free trade zone.
The inaugural flight carried 333 passengers and landed at Da Nang International Airport at 7:50 PM. Emirates plans to operate four flights per week, scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Flight schedule:
Dubai – Bangkok (09:00 – 18:25)
Bangkok – Da Nang (20:10 – 21:15)
Da Nang – Bangkok (23:30 – 01:10)
Bangkok – Dubai (03:40 – 06:50)
As the largest airline in the Middle East, Emirates operates an impressive 4,100 flights per week from Dubai International Airport to 140 cities in more than 80 countries. In addition to passenger transport, Emirates is also highly regarded for its freight services in terms of both quality and safety.
Globally, Emirates is the largest airline by passenger-kilometers flown and ranks second in freight transport distance. In Vietnam, Emirates currently operates 25 flights per week: 7 flights between Hanoi and Dubai, 14 between Ho Chi Minh City and Dubai, and now 4 flights weekly connecting Da Nang.
