From March to August each year marks the peak summer travel season across Vietnam, especially for coastal destinations.

To meet the surge in international visitors, localities are rolling out a wide range of exciting programs to support the most attractive tour offerings.

Coastal Festivals Stretching from North to South

One of the highlights of this year’s summer tourism is a series of cultural festivals and seasonal events along Vietnam’s beaches, from Da Nang to Nha Trang and Phu Quoc.

In Central Vietnam, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2026 kicks off from May 31 with 10 competing teams from around the world. As the largest-scale event in the region and Vietnam, it not only impresses in size but also attracts tens of thousands of international visitors to Da Nang, transforming the city into a vibrant tourism hub.

Beyond the fireworks, visitors to Da Nang can easily travel to nearby destinations such as Hoi An, Ba Na Hills, and the ancient capital of Hue.

Notably, Da Nang’s beaches are ranked among the most beautiful in the world, making the city a colorful hub of summer activities, with various art performances and sports events taking place right on the beach.

At the same time, the Nha Trang Sea Festival 2026 and island tourism activities in Khanh Hoa continue to draw attention with sports programs, cultural performances, and lively beachside events.

Nha Trang is also home to some of the world’s most famous beaches and features the well-known Vinpearl cable car system connecting the mainland to the island.

Meanwhile, Quang Binh is leveraging its strengths in cave tourism, offering nature-based experiences and festivals that appeal to adventure seekers.

In Northern Vietnam, cultural and eco-tourism products continue to be refreshed. Destinations such as Sa Pa and Ha Long Bay are experiencing increased visitor numbers during summer thanks to their cool climate and spectacular landscapes.

Local cultural events and traditional festivals are also being better organized, enhancing the overall visitor experience.

In Southern Vietnam, urban and eco-tourism activities are thriving, including the Southern Fruit Festival, tourism stimulus programs in Ho Chi Minh City, and activities across the Mekong Delta region.

Beyond these, toward the end of summer, major events such as Ha Long Carnival and the Hue Festival continue to energize tourism across multiple provinces.

Major festivals in Ho Chi Minh City include the Water Festival, Tourism Festival, and a series of MICE events, creative programs, and music performances. Other highlights include the Four Seasons Festival in Lao Cai, Trang An Festival and Hoa Lu Ancient Capital Festival, and the Dong Thap Lotus Festival 2026.

Vietnam Tourism Maintains Strong Appeal Amid Global Fluctuations

According to statistics from the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, Vietnam continues to attract international visitors despite global political fluctuations. In March 2026 alone, the country welcomed nearly 2.1 million international arrivals.

In the first three months of 2026, total international arrivals reached 6.76 million, representing a 12.4% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Of these, air travel accounted for 82.3%, road transport 15.5%, and sea transport 2.2%.

Analysis from the Tourism Information Center shows that air travel continues to dominate, reflecting not only Vietnam’s improving aviation connectivity but also international travelers’ confidence in the country as a safe, stable, and accessible destination.

In Q1 2026, Southeast Asian markets recorded strong growth: Malaysia up 21.5%, Singapore 30.2%, Cambodia 41.1%, Indonesia 43.9%, and the Philippines 69.3%, while Thailand grew by 6.5%.

Notably, visitors from European countries increased by 55.6% overall—an important highlight in Vietnam’s tourism growth picture.

Despite disruptions to many international flight routes due to conflicts in the Middle East in March 2026, long-haul markets from Europe to Vietnam still saw growth compared to the same period in 2025.

Overall, tourism performance in March 2026 and the first quarter indicates that Vietnam’s tourism sector is not only growing in visitor numbers but also continuously expanding and diversifying its markets.
