Starting from 2 July 2026, Vietnam Airlines has launched a direct service between Ho Chi Minh City and Phuket (Thailand), operated by Airbus A321 aircraft with four round-trip flights per week. According to the schedule, flights operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

With a flight time of approximately two hours each way, the new route significantly shortens travel time between Phuket-one of Thailand's most renowned beach destinations and Ho Chi Minh City, the largest economic, cultural and tourism hub in Southern Vietnam.

With the introduction of this new service, Vietnam Airlines will increase its total frequency between Vietnam and Thailand to 67 flights per week.
A representative of Vietnam Airlines stated that the new route has been introduced to meet the growing demand for travel and tourism between Vietnam and Thailand, while also enhancing connectivity for passengers transiting through Ho Chi Minh City to the airline's network across Northeast Asia, Australia and Europe.
From Ho Chi Minh City, international passengers will also have convenient onward connections to destinations across southern Vietnam and other parts of the country.
Mr. Le Hong Ha, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vietnam Airlines, said that the launch of the Ho Chi Minh City–Phuket route, together with cooperation agreements signed with Thai partners, forms part of the airline's strategy to expand its route network and ecosystem in the Thai market, while contributing to stronger trade, tourism and connectivity between the two countries.

According to Vietnam Airlines, from 1991 through the end of April 2026, the airline operated nearly 100,000 flights on routes connecting Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang with Bangkok.
More recently, Vietnam Airlines also announced plans to launch the Hanoi–Amsterdam route from June 2026, increase the frequency of its Hanoi–Moscow service to four flights per week from July 2026 and is expected to commence Ho Chi Minh City–Colombo flights from October 2026.
Phuket is one of the key tourism markets that generates a significant number of visitors to Indochina each year, with many Thai travellers choosing to explore popular destinations in Ho Chi Minh City and southern Vietnam. Among these, Ba Den Mountain in Tay Ninh has become one of the most favoured attractions.
