The Hue - Da Nang heritage train and luxury rail service - connecting Da Nang with Quy Nhon and Nha Trang, have been voted among the world’s 20 most scenic train journeys of 2026 by readers of US travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler.

US travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler has announced the results of its 39th annual Readers’ Choice Awards 2026, including its ranking of the world’s most popular rail journeys among readers.

Notably, Vietnam has secured two places on the list of the world’s 20 most scenic train journeys, both featuring routes connected to Da Nang.

The Vietnam Central Heritage Connection, a tourist train linking Hue and Da Nang, ranked 10th, while The Vietage by Anantara, a luxury rail service connecting Da Nang with Quy Nhon and Nha Trang, placed 14th.

Launched in 2024, the Hue - Da Nang tourist train has quickly become an attractive rail tourism product, thanks to its route through one of Vietnam’s most scenic coastal landscapes.

Over the course of approximately three hours, passengers can admire the Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon system, Lang Co Bay and, most notably, the winding railway across Hai Van Pass, where lush mountains and blue seas unfold beyond the train windows.

What sets this journey apart is that the train is more than simply a means of reaching a destination; the journey itself is an experience.

Onboard, passengers can enjoy communal spaces, musical performances and traditional arts programmes, offering opportunities to discover the cultural heritage of Central Vietnam throughout the trip.

Passengers enjoy onboard experiences

According to Condé Nast Traveler, a one-way ticket costs approximately US$11, placing the journey among the most affordable options on the list.

Meanwhile, The Vietage by Anantara, ranked 14th, offers a premium rail travel experience on routes connecting Da Nang with Quy Nhon and Nha Trang.

The journey from Da Nang to Quy Nhon takes approximately six hours, passing rural villages, rice fields and the distinctive mountain-and-coastal landscapes of Central Vietnam.

Passengers are served a three-course meal combining Vietnamese and French cuisine. On the Quy Nhon - Nha Trang leg, afternoon tea featuring local specialties is another highlight of the experience.

Authentic vietnamese food and drinks served onboard

The inclusion of two rail tourism products catering to different market segments in an international readers’ ranking highlights the appeal of exploring Central Vietnam by train.

The recognition also presents an opportunity to promote tourism in Da Nang and neighbouring destinations, while opening up further possibilities for developing rail journeys that combine natural scenery, cultural heritage and authentic local experiences.
