Thai Logistics Delegation Connected To Da Nang By Visit Indochina

On November 20, a delegation from the Department of Land Transport under Thailand's Ministry of Transport, led by Director General Wanpen Kachornklin, visited and engaged in discussions at Tien Sa Port in Da Nang.

This marks the first international delegation to visit Da Nang following the city's recent announcement of the establishment of the Logistics Development Steering Committee, aimed at positioning the coastal city as a central logistics hub.
Pioneering Logistics Exchange Delegation
Visit Indochina Co., Ltd. was selected to coordinate and organize this specialized working visit, which combines official meetings with exploration of Vietnam’s Central region.
On the afternoon of November 20, the delegation met with senior leaders from Tien Sa Port and Viconship at the Tien Sa Port office. After the meeting, they toured the port facilities, including the piers, to gain a deeper understanding of its operations.

On the morning of November 21, the delegation engaged in commercial discussions with the Central Container Joint Stock Company (VSM).

The Thai delegation comprised prominent figures from Thailand’s transport sector, including Mr. Wilawon Kanthothong, Chief Inspector of the Department of Land Transport; Mr. Thanisa Salangsing, Director of the Department of Transport; Mr. Thanit Puttapornmongkon, Chairman of the Thailand Transport Association; as well as researchers, specialists, and technicians from Thailand's Department of Land Transport and Chulalongkorn University.
Strengthening Multimodal Transport Collaboration
During their visit, the Thai delegation and their Vietnamese counterparts discussed port operations, logistics systems, and the transportation of transit goods, oversized cargo, and dangerous goods.
The delegation also explored opportunities for collaboration in multimodal transport, aiming to strengthen logistics connectivity between Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam.

Da Nang Port representatives emphasized the port’s capacity to handle domestic and international goods, including large-scale freight ships. Positioned on bustling international sea routes, Da Nang serves as a key node for global logistics flows.
Looking ahead, Vietnam is developing the Lien Chieu Port, located 20 kilometers north of Da Nang Port, to enhance its logistics capacity. Once operational, it is expected to serve as a logistics center not only for Central Vietnam but also for the Southeast Asian region.
Visit Indochina’s Role In Promoting Da Nang’s Logistics Sector
Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy, General Manager of Visit Indochina, highlighted the significance of this 29-member delegation.
"This is the first logistics-focused delegation from Thailand—renowned for its logistics capabilities—to visit Da Nang, coinciding with the city’s launch of its Logistics Development Steering Committee. The fruitful discussions pave the way for numerous opportunities to enhance cooperation and drive economic growth in Da Nang,” he noted.
In addition to their official meetings, the Thai delegation will explore iconic Central Vietnam attractions, including the Imperial Citadel of Hue and Ba Na Hills in Da Nang.
The itinerary also includes shopping at Han Market and visiting popular landmarks such as Dragon Bridge on the Han River.
