From August 15 to 19, Visit Indochina, in coordination with the Union of Myanmar Travel Association (UMTA) and the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, hosted a famtrip delegation of 60 Myanmar travel companies to explore and experience tourism products in Da Nang.

The familiarization trip attracted significant attention from major Vietnamese media outlets, which followed the programme and published extensive coverage of the event.
During the programme, the delegation visited and experienced several signature destinations and tourism products in Da Nang and surrounding areas, including Hoi An Ancient Town, Linh Ung Pagoda, Han Market, and Sun World Ba Na Hills. The group also enjoyed local cuisine and experienced community-based tourism at Bay Mau Coconut Forest.
At Visit Indochina’s office, the delegation attended a mini-workshop on Vietnam tourism, featuring a presentation and sharing session by a representative of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center.
The workshop introduced the participating companies to key highlights of Da Nang tourism, as well as new destinations and tourism products. It also provided an opportunity to discuss tourism connectivity, marketing and promotional activities between the two markets.

According to Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy, Director of Visit Indochina, the 60 companies participating in the famtrip are reputable and established players in Myanmar’s tourism industry, as well as Visit Indochina’s partners in bringing Myanmar visitors to Vietnam.
Mr. Thuy noted that the familiarization trip allows Myanmar travel companies to experience Da Nang’s destinations, services and tourism products firsthand, giving them a stronger foundation to develop tour programmes and promote Vietnam as a destination to Myanmar travellers.
According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Myanmar has a population of more than 55 million and shares many cultural and lifestyle similarities with Vietnam. The market has therefore been identified as one of Da Nang’s promising international visitor markets.
In 2025, Da Nang welcomed 32,084 visitors from Myanmar, accounting for 0.42% of the city’s total international arrivals. During the first seven months of 2026, the city welcomed 39,080 Myanmar visitors, representing 0.64% of total international arrivals.
Currently, two direct flights operate weekly between Yangon, Myanmar, and Da Nang, creating favourable conditions for tapping into the Myanmar market as well as other Southeast Asian markets.
This marks the first time Visit Indochina has organised a dedicated famtrip for the Myanmar market. The five-day, four-night programme connected Da Nang and Hue, allowing Myanmar travel companies to experience Da Nang’s beach, leisure and culinary offerings alongside Hue’s heritage, cultural and historical values.
The programme marks an important first step in strengthening tourism connectivity between Myanmar and Vietnam, while creating further opportunities for cooperation and attracting more Myanmar visitors to Da Nang in the coming period.
Major Vietnamese Media Outlets Provide Extensive Coverage of Myanmar Famtrip With a large number of Myanmar travel companies participating in the Da Nang tourism familiarization programme organised by Visit Indochina, major Vietnamese media outlets have devoted significant coverage to the event in recent days. Tuoi Tre Online, one of Vietnam’s most widely read newspapers, featured images of activities involving the 60 Myanmar travel representatives, attracting considerable readership. Other major media outlets, including Dan Tri, Sai Gon Giai Phong, Van Hoa Newspaper, Da Nang Newspaper and DNRT, also published news reports and features on the delegation’s experiences. Speaking to Vietnamese media outlets, Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy, Director of Visit Indochina, said that the Myanmar market currently has significant growth potential, noting that many Myanmar visitors travelling to Vietnam are travellers with strong purchasing power and established travel habits. With its cultural similarities and position as a leading destination in the region, Vietnam remains a highly attractive choice for Myanmar travellers. Visit Indochina will therefore continue to strengthen connectivity and cooperation with the Myanmar market to welcome more visitors to Vietnam. |
