Recently, students and lecturers from Liceo de Cagayan University (Philippines) joined a multi-day field trip in Central Vietnam, combining practical learning opportunities with visits to some of Da Nang’s most popular attractions.

The highlight of the program was a specialized workshop held at Sun World Ba Na Hills. During the session, students gained valuable insights into the operations of a large-scale tourism complex, including organizational structure, departmental functions and service procedures required to accommodate tens of thousands of visitors each day.
Rather than relying solely on classroom-based learning, participants were given the opportunity to observe firsthand how attractions, restaurants, cable car systems and visitor services are managed in a real-world tourism environment.

“If we study destination management in class, here we can actually see how everything operates in practice. It helps me better understand the career path I may pursue in the future,” one student shared.
Representatives from Liceo de Cagayan University noted that international field trips are becoming increasingly popular among Filipino students due to their practical value, particularly for those studying tourism, hospitality and service-related disciplines.
In addition to academic activities, the group explored several of Central Vietnam’s most iconic destinations with Visit Indochina, including Ba Na Hills, Dragon Bridge, APEC Park, Hoi An Ancient Town and the Cam Thanh Coconut Forest.

In Hoi An, many students were fascinated by the atmosphere of the ancient riverside town and the opportunity to learn about local cultural heritage. Meanwhile, the basket boat experience in the Cam Thanh Coconut Forest offered participants a closer look at the daily life and traditions of local communities.

“This is my first time visiting Vietnam. I am impressed by the scenery, the friendliness of the people and the way destinations successfully balance cultural preservation with tourism development,” another participant said.
Vietnam’s tourism industry, particularly in Central Vietnam, continues to attract growing numbers of international visitors, especially from Southeast Asian markets. Da Nang has welcomed 7.7 million international visitor arrivals in less than the first five months of the year, reinforcing its position as one of Vietnam’s most dynamic tourism hubs.
According to observations from Visit Indochina over recent years, educational trips that combine academic learning with destination experiences in Vietnam have become increasingly popular among university students across Southeast Asia.
Beyond providing exposure to real-world professional environments, these professionally organized programs by Visit Indochina also contribute to cultural exchange and help promote Vietnam’s tourism image among the next generation of international travelers.
The Philippines is currently one of the largest source markets served by Visit Indochina. The company has also developed dedicated travel products specifically tailored to meet the preferences and expectations of Filipino travelers.
