On July 1, flight PR585 of Philippine Airlines carrying 193 passengers landed at Da Nang International Airport, marking the official launch of the direct Manila – Da Nang route.

According to the plan, Philippine Airlines will operate three flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with plans to increase to four flights per week starting November. The airline uses Airbus A321 aircraft with 199 seats, including 12 business class seats.

A welcome ceremony for the inaugural flight was held at the international arrivals terminal of Da Nang International Airport, attended by representatives from the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation JSC, Philippine Airlines, and other related units.
Celebratory activities included a water cannon salute, traditional performances, ribbon-cutting ceremony, gift giving, and souvenir photos for passengers.
“The launch of this route by Philippine Airlines coincides with the first day of operations of the newly expanded Da Nang City, which now boasts an enlarged geographical area and tourism ecosystem,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
According to Ms. An, Da Nang continues to diversify its international tourism markets, especially in Southeast Asia, through various promotional campaigns and by attracting new airline routes.
With this new route, the total number of flights from Manila to Da Nang now reaches 12 per week, contributing to tourism exchanges between the two urban centers of Vietnam and the Philippines.

According to statistics from the General Statistics Office, in 2024, Da Nang welcomed over 65,000 visitors from the Philippines. In the first five months of 2025 alone, the number reached over 49,000, a 2.26-fold increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Philippine Airlines is the national flag carrier of the Philippines. Its fleet includes Boeing, Airbus, and De Havilland aircraft, operating direct flights from Manila, Cebu, Clark, and Davao to 31 domestic and 38 international destinations across Asia, North America, Australia, and the Middle East. The airline currently operates a total of 24 direct flights per week from Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi to the Philippines.
