A Lao Airlines aircraft prepares for landing as the carrier resumes its Vientiane – Da Nang direct flight service, strengthening air connectivity between Laos and Central Vietnam in 2026.

According to the national carrier of Laos, the Vientiane (VTE) – Da Nang (DAD) service will operate two round trips per week on Thursdays and Sundays. The airline will deploy the Comac C909, configured with 90 economy-class seats. Flight time is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Tickets are available at Lao Airlines ticket offices in Laos, through authorized agents, and via the airline’s official website and mobile application. Round-trip fares for April 2026 departures are currently listed at approximately USD 290.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Lao Airlines operated the Vientiane – Da Nang route using ATR-72 aircraft with 70 seats, transiting in Pakse in southern Laos. In 2023, the carrier attempted to relaunch a nonstop service with Airbus A320 aircraft but later suspended operations due to slower-than-expected market recovery.

Airline representatives said the reintroduction of the route is expected to be more sustainable this time, as the Comac C909’s 90-seat configuration offers a balanced capacity between the smaller ATR-72 (70 seats) and the larger A320 (148 seats). The new aircraft type is anticipated to optimize load factors and operational efficiency.

The reopening comes amid strong growth in Da Nang international tourism 2026. The city is projected to welcome approximately 19 million visitors this year. Increasing numbers of travelers from South Korea and China are choosing Da Nang as a transit hub, driving demand for short-haul connections to popular Lao destinations such as Luang Prabang and Vientiane.

Lao Airlines expects this growing international passenger flow to help fill seats on its C909 aircraft while strengthening Laos–Vietnam air connectivity, particularly between Laos and Central Vietnam.
