The Da Nang Department of Tourism, in collaboration with Vietjet Air, has launched the Da Nang-Ahmedabad (India) route. According to Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, this direct flight marks an important milestone in connecting Da Nang, one of Vietnam’s premier tourist destinations, with Ahmedabad, India.

The first passengers on the Ahmedabad - Da Nang flight were given a warm welcome, receiving flowers and traditional conical hats at Da Nang International Airport.
In the first nine months of 2024, Da Nang welcomed 8.67 million overnight visitors, including over 3.17 million international guests. Notably, tourists from India reached 139,086 visits, a 4.2% increase compared to the same period in 2023, despite the absence of direct flights from India’s major cities to Da Nang.
In recent years, Da Nang has become a popular wedding destination for many Indian billionaires looking for a beautiful, safe, and culturally rich location. Da Nang, known for its pristine beaches, close proximity to the ancient town of Hoi An and the My Son UNESCO World Heritage Site, remains an appealing destination for Indian tourists.
“Da Nang is a vibrant city with a rapidly growing economy, serving as the central international gateway connecting Vietnam to the world. Ahmedabad, with its rich cultural traditions and as one of India’s major economic hubs, will be an attractive destination for both tourists and investors,” confirmed the Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee.
The Da Nang-Ahmedabad route is operated with a frequency of two round trips per week, using an Airbus A320 with 180 seats per flight. Departures from Da Nang are scheduled at 19:10 (local time) and land in Ahmedabad at 23:25 (local time) on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The return flights depart from Ahmedabad at 00:25 (local time) and land in Da Nang at 06:55 (local time) on Thursdays and Sundays.
With this direct route, Vietjet Air now operates a total of eight routes, offering 60 flights per week to India. Travel between Vietnam and India has never been more convenient.
Ahmedabad, on the banks of the Sabarmati River, is one of India’s largest cities and the capital of Gujarat state in Western India, renowned for its iconic landmarks such as the Bhadra Fort, Swaminarayan Temple, and Hathee Singh Jain Temple. Meanwhile, Da Nang remains an international favorite with its beautiful beaches, Son Tra Peninsula, Marble Mountains, and luxurious resorts. Often called “Vietnam’s most livable city,” Da Nang also provides easy access to the central heritage route, including Hoi An, My Son, and the former capital, Hue.

Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy, GM of Visit Indochina, attended the gala welcoming the Indian fam trip group, organized by Da Nang Tourism and Vietjet Air to promote the new route.
