A Philippine Group Explores Northern Vietnam
A group of visitors from the Philippines recently travelled with Visit Indochina to explore Hanoi, Ha Long and Ninh Binh, experiencing the capital’s Old Quarter and local cuisine, cruising Ha Long Bay and discovering the traditional incense-making village of Quang Phu Cau.
In Hanoi, after arriving at Noi Bai International Airport and being transferred to their hotel, the group was accompanied by Visit Indochina’s tour guides to explore the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake, discover the city’s urban life and sample some of the capital’s signature food and drinks, including egg coffee.
As the capital and a major economic, cultural and political centre of Vietnam, Hanoi is known for its distinctive cultural character, attracting visitors from around the world.
At the beginning of autumn each year, Hanoi takes on a new appearance as the weather shifts from the heat of summer to cooler, milder days. The city’s streets are lined with falling leaves, while the areas around Hoan Kiem Lake and West Lake take on a fresh seasonal character. This is one of the most atmospheric times of year to experience the capital, with its cooler weather and romantic autumn scenery.
After exploring Hanoi, the group travelled to Ha Long with Visit Indochina’s transport team. Home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Vietnam’s best-known natural attractions, Ha Long is a highlight of many international itineraries.
The visitors boarded a cruise to explore the bay and admire its distinctive limestone karsts rising from the sea - an experience widely chosen by international travellers visiting northern Vietnam.
Ha Long, Quang Ninh, remains one of Vietnam’s most popular destinations. In the first eight months of 2026, Quang Ninh welcomed nearly 17.1 million visitors, up 6% year on year.
Tourist stays reached nearly 6.6 million, an increase of 10%, while tourism revenue exceeded VND 51 trillion, up 23%. During the five-day National Day holiday from September 2, the province welcomed approximately 568,000 visitors.
Leaving Ha Long, the group continued to Ninh Binh, home to a diverse landscape of caves and the historic remains of the former imperial capital of Hoa Lu. Ninh Binh is also home to Trang An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognised for its outstanding cultural and natural values.

Here, the visitors explored Quang Phu Cau incense village, learning about the traditional incense-making craft before visiting the Trang An scenic complex. Combining a traditional craft village with natural landscapes gave the group an opportunity to go beyond sightseeing and gain a closer look at local culture and everyday life.

In the first seven months of 2026, Vietnam welcomed approximately 416,000 visitors from the Philippines, up 63.6% year on year - the highest growth rate among Southeast Asian markets. In 2025, the number of Philippine visitors to Vietnam exceeded 482,000, representing an 81.3% increase.
These figures reflect the strong interest of Philippine travellers in Vietnam, particularly in short-haul itineraries that combine multiple destinations with cultural and culinary experiences.
