Philippine Group Explores Ho Chi Minh City, Cu Chi and the Mekong Delta

A Philippine tour group recently embarked on a journey through Southern Vietnam, combining visits to historical landmarks and cultural heritage sites with waterway experiences and an exploration of life along the Mekong Delta.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the group visited the War Remnants Museum, Independence Palace, Thien Hau Temple, Ben Thanh Market, Nguyen Hue Walking Street and the Bitexco Financial Tower.
One of the highlights of the itinerary was a Water Bus ride along the Saigon River, offering visitors a different perspective of the city from the water.
The journey then continued to the Cu Chi Tunnels, where the group learned about the underground tunnel system associated with Vietnam’s wartime history. The group later traveled to the Mekong Delta to experience its riverine landscapes and gain insight into the daily lives of local communities.

The tour program was designed and coordinated directly by the Visit Indochina team, combining multiple tourism experiences into a single itinerary, including historical tourism in central Ho Chi Minh City and Cu Chi, cultural exploration, urban sightseeing by water and river-based experiences in the Mekong Delta.
The combination of destinations also reflects a growing trend toward developing interconnected southern Vietnam itineraries rather than focusing solely on individual attractions.

Highlights from the journey exploring Southern Vietnam
In the first six months of 2026, Vietnam welcomed more than 364,000 visitors from the Philippines, an increase of 67.6% compared with the same period in 2025. In June alone, 63,048 Philippine visitors arrived in Vietnam, up 49.7% year on year.
Overall, Vietnam welcomed more than 12.25 million international visitors in the first half of 2026, representing a 14.9% increase year on year. Air travel remained the dominant mode of arrival, accounting for more than 10.12 million international visitors.
Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism sector has also maintained its growth momentum. In 2025, the city was estimated to welcome approximately 8.5 million international visitors and more than 45 million domestic tourists, with total tourism revenue reaching around VND 279 trillion.
In the first half of 2025, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed more than 3.85 million international visitors, up 44% year on year, while domestic arrivals exceeded 18.3 million. Total tourism revenue reached nearly VND 118 trillion, an increase of 27.3%.
From a service perspective, the continued growth in visitor numbers is encouraging travel companies to diversify their products by connecting destinations, expanding experiential offerings and enhancing tour operations. Itineraries combining Ho Chi Minh City, Cu Chi and the Mekong Delta are particularly well positioned to bring together different tourism experiences, from museums and historical sites to waterway excursions and community-based tourism.

Following the trip, members of the Philippine group gave positive feedback on the organization, itinerary and support provided throughout their journey. Some visitors also expressed their interest in returning to Vietnam for future trips.
