The caravan route from Bo Y Border Gate (Kon Tum Province) to Lao Bao Border Gate (Quang Tri Province), stretching nearly 1,000km, offers a perfect adventure for travelers who love cultural exploration and authentic experiences in Vietnam.

Along the journey from Bo Y – Pleiku – Nha Trang – Quy Nhơn – Hoi An – Da Nang – Hue – Lao Bao, visitors will encounter diverse cultural heritages, from misty highlands to coastal cities and ancient capitals.

Starting at the “place where the rooster’s crow is heard in three countries”

The trip begins at the Indochina Junction, where Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia meet. It’s famously said that “the rooster’s crow can be heard in all three countries” from this very spot.

Pleiku – The misty highland city

About 150km from Bờ Y, Pleiku is home to the Ja Rai ethnic group and the legendary T’Nưng Lake – an ancient volcanic crater dubbed “the eyes of Pleiku.” The landscape here is poetic, especially at dawn.

Nha Trang – The coastal land of agarwood

From the highlands, the caravan winds through scenic passes to Nha Trang – a top beach destination. Travelers can snorkel at Hon Mun, soak in mud baths at Thap Ba, and enjoy local specialties like jellyfish noodles, grilled pork rolls, and "banh can".

Quy Nhon – Where the sea sings

Quy Nhon charms with untouched beaches and rich local culture. Highlights include watching the sunset at Eo Gió, relaxing at Ky Co Beach, and visiting ancient Cham towers like Thap Doi and Thap Banh It.

Hoi An – Da Nang – Hue: Three UNESCO heritage sites

The journey continues through Hoi An Ancient Town, Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary, and the Complex of Hue Monuments – all UNESCO-recognized sites. In between lies Da Nang, a modern city offering rest and exploration of sites like the Golden Bridge and Marble Mountains.

Hue’s historic ambiance brings visitors back to the royal past, with boat rides on the Perfume River, traditional Hue music, and iconic dishes like "bun bo Hue", "com hen", and "che bot loc" with roasted pork.

Finishing at Lao Bao Border Gate

After nearly 1,000km, the caravan concludes at Lao Bảo Border Gate. From here, travelers can either continue into Laos or return via the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
