The “ASEAN Watercolor Architectural Heritage Study 2026” program, bringing together Thailand’s community of architects and artists, concluded its journey in Central Vietnam with a warm welcome from the Visit Indochina.

The entire itinerary was thoughtfully designed around a “deep experience” approach, blending research, creative practice and travel. The schedule was flexibly adjusted according to weather conditions and creative needs, allowing each stop to become an open artistic space.

At Ba Na Hills, the group experienced the cable car system above the clouds, taking in panoramic views of lush mountain landscapes from above.

The mountaintop setting featuring classical European-style architecture, spacious plazas, and year-round cool climate became an inspiring backdrop for dozens of watercolor artwor ks created on-site.

In Hoi An, participants stepped into a heritage setting with its iconic yellow houses, glowing lanterns, and a slow-paced rhythm of life.

Visit Indochina also arranged flexible free time, enabling participants to both sketch and explore local culture. On average, each member completed between three to five watercolor paintings throughout the journey.

An art program at Hoi An Lune Center, along with an evening Gala Dinner, was meticulously organized, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere for cultural exchange. Many participants praised the thoughtful arrangements, from venue selection and lighting to a menu rich in Vietnamese flavors.

In Da Nang, the journey continued with a series of notable attractions, including Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra Peninsula with its iconic Lady Buddha statue, Son Tra Marina inspired by Santorini architecture, My Khe Beach with its white sandy shores, and modern landmarks such as APEC Park, Dragon Bridge, and Love Bridge.

Each destination was carefully scheduled to ensure a balance between sightseeing and creative work.

Beyond the experience itself, the program resulted in hundreds of completed watercolor pieces, capturing the beauty of Vietnam’s architecture and landscapes through an international perspective.

The thoughtful organization and engaging itinerary design by Visit Indochina received high praise from participants. Particularly, the chance to admire Hoi An’s shimmering lantern-lit beauty during the year-end festive season made the journey truly memorable.
