A senior leadership delegation from Megaworld Corporation, one of the Philippines’ largest real estate developers, recently visited Da Nang and Hoi An to explore experience in tourism and urban development, as well as potential investment and cooperation opportunities.
From October 30 to November 2, a senior leadership delegation from Megaworld Corporation, led by Ms. Lourdes T. Gutierrez-Alfonso, President and Chief Executive Officer of the group, visited Da Nang for a series of meetings and site inspections.
The visit was part of Megaworld's international study programme, aimed at gaining insights into urban development, tourism, hospitality and destination development.

Upon the senior leadership delegation’s arrival at Da Nang International Airport, Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy, Director of Visit Indochina, personally welcomed Ms. Lourdes T. Gutierrez-Alfonso, President & CEO of Megaworld Corporation and the other members with a flower presentation.
This special reception reflected the high level of hospitality Visit Indochina extends to VIP guests from its key international markets. Visit Indochina served as the programme organiser, providing logistical support and coordinating site visits throughout the delegation's business trip in Central Vietnam.

According to Mr. Thuy, welcoming senior executives from one of the Philippines' major corporations was an opportunity to showcase Da Nang's dynamic and welcoming image while strengthening connections between tourism businesses in the two countries.
The Megaworld senior leadership delegation comprised 12 members, including senior executives responsible for project development, finance, urban management, business innovation and partnerships.
Notable members included Ms. Jennifer Romualdez, Chief Operating Officer; Mr. Jericho Andrew Barcelon, who oversees project development and partnerships; Mr. Roberto Carlo Dela Rosa, responsible for corporate finance; and senior executives from the group's property management entities.
During the programme, the delegation focused on exploring Da Nang's tourism development strategy, particularly in cultural tourism, sports tourism, events, golf tourism, coastal and riverside services, and the night-time economy.
Introducing the destination to the senior leadership delegation, Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy highlighted Da Nang's advantages in tourism infrastructure, its network of resorts and golf courses, and its capacity to host international events.
Among these offerings, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) has become a signature tourism product, complemented by tourism activities along the Han River, MICE programmes and premium resort experiences.
In Hoi An, the senior leadership delegation explored tourism development models that integrate heritage conservation with traditional craft villages, community-based tourism and night-time economic activities.

The group also held meetings and discussions with representatives of Khoi Phat Company Limited, Tien Son Sports Arena, Montgomerie Links and Sun World Ba Na Hills.
At these destinations, the senior leadership delegation was introduced to facilities, tourism products, sports services, resort offerings and entertainment experiences, gaining insights into the development and operation of large-scale integrated service complexes.

As part of the visit, the Megaworld senior leadership delegation held a working meeting with the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Mr. Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Ms. Hong Tham, Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre, welcomed the senior leadership delegation and shared insights into the city's tourism development.

Representatives of Da Nang's tourism sector introduced the city's potential, development orientations and outstanding tourism products, while highlighting its advantages in landscapes, infrastructure, services and the hospitality of local residents.
Mr. Tan Van Vuong expressed his desire to strengthen connections with international partners, including Megaworld, to further promote Da Nang's tourism image and explore cooperation opportunities in tourism and services.

Megaworld's visit also received coordination support from the Embassy of Vietnam in the Philippines. Earlier, on October 7, Mr. Harold Geronimo, a senior Megaworld executive, met with the Embassy of Vietnam in the Philippines to discuss plans for the familiarisation visit.
Subsequently, through Official Dispatch No. 52/ĐSQ-PHL dated October 20, the Embassy provided information about the delegation's itinerary and requested the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate and facilitate discussions on tourism development experience and potential cooperation between the two sides.

Sharing further information with the Chairwoman and other senior leadership delegation members, Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy highlighted that, over its 15 years of operation, Visit Indochina has established an extensive network of domestic and international partners and developed a diverse portfolio of tourism products for international visitors, with the Philippines being one of its key target markets.
The company also regularly connects with partners to organise familiarisation trips, site inspections and welcoming programmes for delegations travelling from the Philippines to Da Nang.
Following the visit, Ms. Lourdes T. Gutierrez-Alfonso expressed her admiration for Da Nang's development, Hoi An's cultural heritage and the professional organisation and hospitality provided by Visit Indochina.
The Megaworld Chairwoman also praised the professionalism of the Visit Indochina service team, expressing her interest in further exploring potential cooperation and investment opportunities in Da Nang in the coming years.
