Visit Indochina Leads Thai Officials on Study and Exchange Program in Ho Chi Minh City

In recent days, a delegation of Thai politicians and local government officials has visited Ho Chi Minh City as part of an executive study and exchange program under the Senior Executive Program in Local Administration organized by Chulalongkorn University.

The delegation included senior leaders and administrators such as the Deputy Secretary of Pattaya, city secretaries and deputy secretaries, as well as heads of provincial, district, and local administrative organizations.

The program focused on sharing practical experience in urban governance, sustainable development, digital transformation, and the improvement of public services—areas in which Ho Chi Minh City is increasingly regarded as a leading model in Southeast Asia.

During their stay, the delegation held working sessions at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City, discussing the framework for Vietnam–Thailand bilateral cooperation and policies aimed at enhancing the capacity of Thai human resources working abroad.

At the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority, participants examined industrial zone management models that emphasize operational efficiency, environmental sustainability, and balanced economic growth.

Discussions on education and innovation continued at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, focusing on improving higher education quality amid digital transformation and rising demand for highly skilled human resources.

Notably, the delegation spent significant time exploring Ho Chi Minh City’s smart city solutions, including disaster risk management systems, real-time citizen feedback platforms operated by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, and the One ID digital identification system integrated into public service delivery at the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center.

These initiatives were assessed as highly practical and adaptable for large urban centers in Thailand.

The delegation also visited Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral, engaging with local representatives on challenges related to heritage preservation and urban identity amid rapid urbanization, with an emphasis on balancing development and conservation.

According to local tourism data, international arrivals to Ho Chi Minh City increased by more than 20 percent in 2024, with MICE tourism and study tours recording growth of 25–30 percent. Thailand remains one of the city’s key source markets, maintaining steady growth and contributing significantly to tourism revenue and international exchanges.

Key Southern Vietnam Destinations for Thai Travelers

Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, and Phu Quoc are among the three key southern destinations actively promoted by Visit Indochina. Tourist flows from Thailand to these destinations have continued to rise steadily since the post-COVID-19 recovery period.

The study tour was fully designed and operated by Visit Indochina, providing direct access to government agencies, academic institutions, and specialized organizations in Ho Chi Minh City.

Through close coordination among all stakeholders, the program achieved its learning objectives, adhered to diplomatic protocols, and delivered strong professional outcomes—further reinforcing Ho Chi Minh City’s image as a regional hub for knowledge exchange and cooperation.

The trip also highlighted Visit Indochina’s role as a trusted connector, demonstrating professional service standards, extensive local expertise, and a strong regional network.
