Visit Indochina CEO Shares Insights at Tourism Technology and Innovation Forum

On the morning of September 23, at the inaugural Vietnam Horecfex 2024 Tourism Technology and Innovation Forum in Da Nang, Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy - founder of Visit Indochina Company - shared his perspectives on the tourism industry.

According to Mr. Thuy, Vietnam is emerging as a leading regional destination, attracting a large number of inbound tourists.

Recently, destination promotion efforts have provided significant support to travel businesses.

Post-COVID-19, Vietnam's tourism has recovered rapidly, ranking among the top three Southeast Asian countries with the fastest recovery rates.

Vietnam is gaining prominence as an attractive destination for nature tourism, environmental and cultural experiences, and rich cultural heritage.

However, when comparing with other countries in the region, Mr. Thuy also pointed out that visa policies for tourists remain a major bottleneck and obstacle.

Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy - founder of Visit Indochina Company - shared his perspectives on the tourism industry.

In Vietnam, some destinations like Phu Quoc and Nha Trang have implemented more relaxed visa policies, resulting in a surge of visitors.

"Take Phu Quoc, for example. Previously, this destination wasn't particularly famous, but in recent years, thanks to the implementation of liberal visa policies, including free visas for many markets, especially India, it's now bustling with tourists.

We believe that destinations, especially Hue, Da Nang, and Hoi An, need to propose special mechanisms to relax visa conditions.

This will 'unleash' businesses and tourists, making it easier for visitors to travel and contribute more to overall development," Mr. Thuy said.

Beyond visas, Mr. Thuy also shared insights from his perspective as the head of Vietnam's largest inbound tourism company.

He emphasized the importance of sustainable experiences and creating tourism services that leverage local cultural elements.

Additionally, Mr. Thuy offered observations on inbound and outbound tourism trends, future digital tourism experiences, MICE tourism market trends, and the future direction of tourism in Vietnam and the region.

The event includes leaders from Da Nang City People's Committee, Quang Nam and Hue Departments of Tourism, the Vietnam Tourism Association, and approximately 2,000 delegates from Vietnamese tourism businesses.

First Tourism Technology Exhibition in Da Nang The Vietnam Horecfex 2024 Exhibition and Forum on Technology and Innovation in the Hotel Industry is taking place at Ariyana Da Nang on September 23 and 24, featuring 15 international partners and 55 leading speakers in the field of digital tourism transformation.

The event is attended by leaders from Da Nang City People's Committee, Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Hue Departments of Tourism, Vietnam Tourism Association, along with about 2,000 delegates from Vietnamese tourism businesses. Vietnam Horecfex 2024 aims to promote innovation and growth for the business community in the hospitality, restaurant, and food service sectors. The event will connect businesses in these sectors with providers of advanced tourism technology solutions, promoting innovation and digital transformation.
