USS George Washington Sailors Experience Da Nang's Local Cuisine and Attractions

After arriving in Da Nang's Tien Sa Bay on July 30 and scheduled to depart on August 5, sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS George Washington and its escort vessels have today (August 4) as their final opportunity to explore the city before setting sail.
On the morning of August 4, sailors, crew members and personnel were transported from the USS George Washington, anchored offshore to Tien Sa Port.
With the support of Vietnamese authorities and Visit Indochina, the visitors completed arrival procedures before boarding premium coaches to begin their sightseeing tours and culinary experiences across Da Nang.
According to Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy, Director of Visit Indochina, the company is the exclusive destination management company appointed to organize the delegation's sightseeing programme during their stay in Da Nang.
Based on recommendations from the local tourism authorities and government, as well as agreements with the delegation, Visit Indochina designed itineraries featuring traditional craft villages and authentic local eateries, aiming to showcase the city's cultural heritage, local communities and distinctive identity.

Throughout the morning of August 4, a steady stream of visitors continued to come ashore. After completing arrival formalities, they were guided to several destinations that had welcomed previous groups over the past few days, including the Nam O traditional fish sauce village and Nam O Beach, a site of historical significance in Da Nang.
The itineraries also included Hai Van Pass, Linh Ung Pagoda and opportunities to enjoy Da Nang's signature dish, Mi Quang, at well-known local restaurants.

Beyond promoting Da Nang as a tourism destination, the visits also generated economic benefits for local businesses, with many of the sites reporting increased sales during the delegation's visit.
One memorable scene took place at the Nam O fish sauce village. After touring the facility and tasting the distinctive flavour and aroma of Huong Lang Co fish sauce, many sailors exchanged money into Vietnamese dong and purchased bottles of the traditional product to take back aboard the aircraft carrier.
