Among the 10 traditional markets currently developed by Visit Indochina, Laos remains a relatively modest market in scale but is considered one of the most promising sources of growth. In recent years, alongside the country’s economic development and improving living standards, travel demand among Lao tourists has continued to rise significantly.

Sharing a long border with Vietnam, Laos also maintains close cultural ties and a longstanding friendship with its neighboring country, making Vietnam one of the top travel choices for visitors from the “Land of a Million Elephants.”

During their trip, the Lao visitors were especially impressed by the vibrant atmosphere and rapid urban development of Da Nang. Experiencing the dynamic city center firsthand allowed many guests to witness the remarkable transformation of modern Vietnamese cities.

Travelers also highly appreciated the harmony between modern landscapes and traditional cultural values in Central Vietnam. The unique contrast of “urban life within heritage spaces” between the ancient town of Hoi An and the modern city of Da Nang left a strong impression on the group.

In Da Nang, the visitors enjoyed the lively atmosphere along the Han River, checked in at the Dragon Bridge, and explored the coastal city at night. Meanwhile, Ba Na Hills continued to attract attention thanks to its year-round cool climate, cable car system, and the world-famous Golden Bridge.

Many Lao travelers were also excited to experience basket boat rowing at Cam Thanh Coconut Village, watch traditional spinning boat performances, and enjoy local Central Vietnamese specialties such as Cao lầu, mì Quảng, and fresh seafood dishes.

Currently, tourism in Central Vietnam is entering its busiest season of the year as international arrivals continue to rebound strongly, supported by convenient transportation infrastructure, expanding flight connections, and increasingly diverse tourism products.

Da Nang and Hoi An continue to be regarded as a “golden tourism corridor” thanks to the combination of beach resorts, entertainment experiences, and cultural heritage attractions. Short trips lasting three to four days have become increasingly popular among Southeast Asian travelers this summer.

In the first quarter of 2026, Vietnam welcomed 46,199 visitors from Laos. With a shared border stretching over 2,300 kilometers and a system of 8 international border gates, 7 main border crossings, and 18 auxiliary crossings, travel between Laos and Vietnam has become highly convenient.

The short travel distance, affordable costs, and diverse border infrastructure continue to make Vietnam an accessible and attractive destination for Lao travelers.
