Speaking at a tourism partner and local authority meeting within the framework of the FAM Trip “Northern Legacy: Tam Dao - Yen Tu - Ha Long”, Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy – Director of Visit Indochina, stated that Yen Tu tourism is gaining strong interest from Thai tourists, and this destination is expected to become a driving force to bring Thai visitors back to Quang Ninh.

Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy, CEO of Visit Indochina, delivers remarks at the Northern Legacy FAM Trip, highlighting Yen Tu as a key destination to attract Thai tourists back to Quang Ninh.
The meeting was organized by Visit Indochina in collaboration with the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with the participation of 60 key travel partners of Visit Indochina.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Yen – Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Khuc Dinh Phuong – Chairman of the Quang Ninh Young Entrepreneurs Association, along with representatives from accommodation providers, cruise operators and tourist attractions also attended the event.

Providing insights into the Thailand travel market to Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy noted that recent data shows Thailand is no longer among Vietnam’s top 10 international source markets.
The number of Thai visitors to Vietnam in general and Ha Long tourism in particular has been declining year by year. According to Mr. Thuy, the main reason is that Ha Long has become a familiar destination, lacking new tourism products to encourage repeat visits.
Assessing the current potential of Yen Tu heritage tourism, the Director of Visit Indochina emphasized that with its recognition as a World Cultural Heritage site, Yen Tu is facing a major opportunity to attract Thai tourists back to Quang Ninh.
This is not only a source of pride but also a foundation for developing new tourism products that combine cultural, historical and natural values.

“Yen Tu is not only a spiritual destination but also holds significant historical and cultural value. If developed properly, I believe it can serve as a foundation for creating more distinctive and in-depth tourism products compared to traditional tours.
We believe Yen Tu can become a new highlight, acting as a ‘pull factor’ to attract the Thai market again, especially travelers interested in cultural experiences and pilgrimage tourism,” said Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy.
Highly appreciating Quang Ninh’s recent efforts, Mr. Thuy shared that he always reflects on the expectations entrusted by provincial leaders and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Mr. Nguyen Son Thuy, CEO of Visit Indochina, discusses tourism cooperation strategies with partners during the networking event.
As an international travel company trusted by Quang Ninh, Visit Indochina continuously seeks ways to bring more tourists to the province; organizing 60 travel agents is one of the company’s dedicated efforts to support the local tourism industry.
During the meeting, Thai travel businesses and representatives of Vietnam’s tourism sector held direct working sessions to discuss specific cooperation opportunities.
Quang Ninh recognizes Visit Indochina’s efforts and reputation At the event, leaders of the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized that Visit Indochina’s partner meeting plays a highly important role in opening up practical cooperation opportunities between Quang Ninh and the Thai tourism market. Recognizing Visit Indochina’s strong international network and reputation, the Department committed to continuing support, creating favorable conditions, and providing maximum assistance for businesses in attracting international visitors. With a population of nearly 72 million, an average income of around USD 7,000 per capita, close proximity to Vietnam, and visa exemption policies, Thailand is identified as a highly potential tourism market for Vietnam in general and Quang Ninh in particular. |
