Beginning November 22, Vietnam Airlines will officially inaugurate its new direct flight route between Hanoi and Jakarta, creating a faster and more convenient connection between the two Southeast Asian capitals.

This marks the second direct Indonesia–Vietnam route operated by the national flag carrier. Earlier, in June 2025, the airline launched direct service between Ho Chi Minh City and Denpasar (Bali).

According to a Vietnam Airlines representative in Indonesia, the daily service with convenient nighttime departures allows passengers to maximize daytime hours for work, sightseeing, or domestic travel—particularly beneficial for business travelers and time-sensitive tourists.

The new route not only meets the rapidly increasing travel demand between the two countries but also strengthens Vietnam Airlines’ competitive position in the ASEAN aviation market.

Mr. Nghia, the airline’s representative, emphasized that Vietnam Airlines has been strategically expanding its network in key global markets, especially Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia. This strategy aligns with the government’s broader vision: wherever Vietnamese carriers operate, they help expand Vietnam’s “soft borders” through connectivity, tourism, and cultural exchange.

The newly launched Hanoi–Jakarta service is expected to boost two-way passenger traffic, enhance tourism flows, and open new opportunities for both countries.
